Desert Pediatrics was established in 1998. At Desert Pediatrics, we do our very best to accommodate your family with expert, personalized care. We treat everyone like family. We believe strongly in preventative medicine and embracing a healthy lifestyle. We believe continuity of care is important. Your child would see exclusively our three well-trained and experienced pediatricians. Our kid-friendly staff offer comprehensive care for newborns through young adulthood. David McHorney MD, FAAP
Board Certified Pediatrician
University of Arizona Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. McHorney (Dr. Dave) earned his medical degree at the University of Southern California.
He then served 8 years as an active duty Air Force pediatrician in California, Texas, and Tucson.
He has been a Tucson community pediatrician for over 20 years.
In his spare time, he likes staying fit by hiking, biking, and jogging.
He also enjoys playing golf, snowboarding, and photography.

Tien Nguyen, MD, FAAP
Board Certified Pediatrician
University of Arizona Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Nguyen earned her medical degree at the University of Arizona. She then completed her pediatric training at UCLA. She joined the faculty staff at the University of Arizona and practiced pediatric hospital medicine before joining Desert Pediatrics in 2016. She was recognized as one of Tucson’s 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 Top Pediatricians and 2021, 2022, 2023 Exceptional Women in Medicine from Tucson Lifestyle Magazine. She is involved in teaching University of Arizona pediatric residents. In her free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with her two children. She loves baking for others, crafting, playing music and exercising. She is accepting new patients!
Terry Vondrak, MD, FAAP
Board Certified Pediatrician
University of Arizona Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Vondrak is one of the original founders of Desert Pediatrics. He has been serving the Tucson community for his entire medical career. He is a member of the inaugural graduating class of the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
